Maruti Grand Vitara Records Over 60,000 Bookings; 40% For The Strong Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki has sold 4,800 Grand Vitara’s in the month of September 2022. The company started deliveries of the new SUV on the occasion of Navratri on September 26. In the first month, 800 units or 18% of Grand Vitara’s sales, came from the strong hybrid variant. Maruti Suzuki has already received over 60,000 bookings for the new Maruti Grand Vitara SUV.

What’s interesting is that the share of the hybrid variant in the total bookings is significantly higher at 40 per cent. MSIL has received over 24,000 pre-orders for the strong hybrid version of the Grand Vitara. The SUV is offered with mild hybrid and strong hybrid variants. The mild hybrid version is priced in the range of Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 17.05 lakh, while the strong hybrid is available in the price bracket of Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki is betting big on the new Brezza and the Grand Vitara to regain its lost market share. The company sold 15,445 units of the new Brezza, which also becomes the best-selling SUV in the country. MSIL believes that the Grand Vitara and the new Brezza will help them to achieve 50% market share.

The Maruti Grand Vitara or the Toyota Hyryder is co-developed by Suzuki and Toyota in India. These two SUVs are designed and developed on the Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the global-spec S-Cross. The SUV is produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka. It comes fitted with Suzuki’s 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid tech and Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA petrol with strong hybrid technology. The self-charging hybrid SUV offers multiple drive modes – EV, Eco, Power and Normal.

The new Grand Vitara is exclusively sold through NEXA premium dealership network. MSIL is also offering a ‘special introductory package’ comprising of extended warranty till 5 years/1 lakh km and a complimentary Nexa accessory pack worth Rs 67,000. The SUV can also be had via leasing option with monthly subscription fee starting from Rs 27,000.
