Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out the CNG version of its newly-launched Grand Vitara mid-size SUV. While its official launch date is yet to be revealed, the model is reported to hit showrooms in December 2022. It will be the brand’s first SUV to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Similar to the Toyota Hyryder CNG, the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG will come with the 103bhp, 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid powertrain.
Compared to the regular petrol hybrid setup, the CNG version will be slightly less powerful and torqueier. The Maruti Grand Vitara CNG can be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Mileage figure of the CNG SUV will stand at 26.10km/kg. Unlike the Hyryder CNG that comes in two variants, the Grand Vitara CNG is likely to be offered in multiple variants (possibly from the entry-level trims).
In terms of pricing, the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG is expected to be priced around Rs 75,000 – Rs 95,000 premium over its petrol mild hybrid counterpart. Currently, the mid-size SUV model lineup comes within the price range of Rs 10.45 lakh – Rs 19.65 lakh. It has eight automatic variants that cost from Rs 13.40 lakh to Rs 19.65 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
The Maruti Grand Vitara is being offered in 9 exterior colour options, namely, Arctic White, Opulent Red, Celestial Blue, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Midnight Black, Chestnut-Bronze, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver Midnight Black, and Arctic White Midnight Black. The dual-tone paint schemes are available only on the top-end Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims, at an additional cost of Rs 16,000.
The company is offering a special introductory package with the strong-hybrid variants. It includes an extended warranty of 5 years/1,00,000 km (up from the standard 2 year/40,000 km) and a genuine Nexa accessory pack worth over Rs 67,000.
