Maruti Suzuki had revealed the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo in January this year. The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny can be booked online or at authorised NEXA dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. While the official launch date is yet to be revealed, we have learned that the off-roader will go on sale in the second half of May 2023.
The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will come in two trim levels – Zeta and Alpha. Both variants will be powered by the tried & tested 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine with an idle start/stop function for better fuel efficiency. This engine is capable of producing 103PS at 6,000rpm and 134Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. It gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range gearbox.
The new Jimny 5-door has an approach angle of 36°, a departure angle of 50°, and a break-over angle of 24°. Based on the rugged ladder-on-frame chassis, the SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm. In terms of features, the lifestyle SUV gets a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, LED headlamp with washer, 15-inch alloy wheels in gunmetal finish, tailgate mounted spare wheel, etc.
For safety & security, the SUV has six airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control and brake limited slip differential. The Jimny will come in 5 single tone and 2 dual-tone colour options – Kinetic Yellow + Bluish Black Roof, Sizzling Red + Bluish Black Roof, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey and Pearl Arctic White.
The new Jimny 5-door will be sold alongside the Grand Vitara and the Fronx through NEXA dealership network. The SUV has already received over 25,000 pre-orders. It is estimated to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
