Mahindra XUV700 Likely To Debut In July 2021 – Report

Mahindra XUV700, the upcoming 7-seater SUV from the home-grown carmaker, is currently in its final testing phase. According to a fresh media report, its production version might debut in the month of July, which will be followed by its launch. In the company’s product lineup, the new XUV700 will sit above the XUV500 and it will lock horns against Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. Prices of the SUV are likely to start from Rs 15 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).

Being a premium offering, the new Mahindra 7-seater SUV will be packed with several advanced goodies such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), autonomous emergency braking, dual display unit for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, power adjustable driver seat with memory function, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. The spy pictures reveal that the XUV700 will have crème leather on the dashboard with silver accents underneath, wooden finished door panels and new, slightly flat bottom steering.

Interestingly, the new Mahindra XUV700 will be the brand’s first model to be designed on the new monocoque platform. Its engine setup is likely to be carried over from the Thar – i.e. 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel. However, both motors will be tuned for generating higher power output. While the gasoline unit will deliver power close to 188bhp, the oil burner will offer around 185bhp. Buyers will have a choice between 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearboxes. Rumour has it that the XUV700 could be offered with the mild hybrid powertrain. If it happens, the Mahindra XUV700 hybrid variant will be more fuel efficient and cleaner than its petrol and diesel counterparts. Furthermore, the 7-seater SUV will comply to the upcoming stringent CAFÉ 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) standards. One must note that the new CAFÉ II and BS6 Stage II norms will be enforced in 2022 and April 2023 respectively.
