Mahindra XUV700 Gets Driver Drowsiness Detection Safety Feature – Video

Mahindra XUV700, the new premium 7-seater SUV from the home-grown carmaker, is inches closer to its official debut. In order to create excitement among buyers, the company is dropping a new teaser video in every 6 days revealing its segment-first features. The latest one confirms that the three-row SUV will come with the driver drowsiness detection safety system.

If the driver starts to nod off, the XUV700 notices it and nudges him/her awake. The carmaker, however, didn’t mention which technology has been used to detect driver drowsiness. For people not in the know, there are multiple technologies including vehicle position in lane monitoring, steering patter monitoring, driver eye/face monitoring and physiological measurement.

The company has already revealed that the Mahindra XUV700 features the auto booster headlamps, segment’s largest panoramic sunroof, smart door handles and personalized safety alerts. The three-row SUV will also be packed with features such as Mercedes-Benz inspired dual-screen infotainment system and instrumentation, long range adaptive headlamp beams, electronic parking brake, drive modes, wireless connectivity, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and more.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will look more modern and carry more evolved design language than its predecessor – XUV500. Some of its key design elements will include a more upright grille, newly-designed C-shaped headlamps with new LED DRLs, smart door handles and LED taillamps. The carmaker will offer multiple interior theme and texture options. It will come with 6 and 7-seats configurations. Its 5-seater version is likely to be introduced as new-generation Mahindra XUV500 in coming years. The new 5-seater XUV500 will challenge Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.

Both petrol and diesel engines will be on offer. The XUV700 petrol will use a new 2.0L turbocharged motor delivering a massive power of 200bhp and its diesel version will feature a 2.2L mHawk unit making power worth 185bhp. That means, the new Mahindra 7-seater SUV will be the most powerful vehicle in its category.
