Mahindra Thar, XUV700 Waiting Period Details – City-Wise List

Mahindra’s two highly popular SUVs – Thar and XUV700 – have been witnessing high waiting period in the country. In Chennai, the Mahindra Thar commands a waiting period of up to 11 months. That means, customers who will book the vehicle today will receive delivery in mid 2023. The average waiting period of the off-road SUV is 4 to 5 months.

The Mahindra XUV700, on the other hand, has been observing a waiting period of up to 9 months in Thane. The SUV’s average wating period is 3 to 4 months.

There are two major reasons behind the soaring waiting period – firstly the high demand and secondly the semi-conductor shortage. In March 2022, the home-grown automaker registered total sales of 54,643 units including 27,380 units of Utility Vehicles. It managed to retail 6,924 units of Bolero, 6,061 units of Scorpio, 6,040 units of XUV700, 4,140 units of XUV300 and 3,893 units of Thar.

Upcoming Mahindra’s SUVs

The company is gearing up to launch the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio in coming months. Recently, we have seen its close-to-production model images revealing bigger dimensions and a few design details. Reports suggest that the new Scorpio will come with the more powerful 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. The oil burner will make 130bhp with 300Nm on lower variants and 155bhp with 350Nm on higher trims. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

Mahindra will unveil its three new electric SUV concepts in July 2022. Based on the ‘Born Electric’ platform, the SUVs is likely to be the eXUV300, eXUV700 and eXUV900. All models will be designed by the company’s UK-based MADE (Mahindra Advance Design Europe) division.
