Mahindra SUVs Get Expensive; Thar Prices Increased By Upto 92,000

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker has announced a price hike of around 2 percent for its passenger vehicles. However, the brand’s most popular offering – the new Thar has witnessed a price hike of upto 7 percent.  The company said that the price hike is due to an increase in input costs.

Mahindra Bolero is now costlier by 2-3 percent, receiving a price hike of Rs 22,452 to Rs 22,508. On the other hand, the KUV100 price increase by Rs 2,672. The Mahindra Marazzo is no expensive by 2 percent, receiving a price increase ranging from Rs 26,597 to Rs 30,867. The Scorpio also gets expensive by 2 percent with price increase in the range of Rs 27,211 to Rs 37,395.

New Mahindra Thar Waiting Period

The new Mahindra Thar receives a maximum price rise. The SUV is now costlier by upto Rs 92,000. The new Thar has received an overwhelming response from buyers, as the waiting period has crossed 1 year in some cities. In order to meet the rising demand, Mahindra is aiming to increase the production. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and supply chain issues, the production of the SUV remains at a lower side.

Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV price has been increased by 2 percent. The SUV is now costlier by Rs 3,606 to Rs 24,029. The XUV500 mid-sized SUV price has been increased by upto Rs 3,068.

Upcoming Mahindra SUVs

Mahindra has announced to launch 9 new SUVs in the Indian market by 2026. The company will soon introduce the new Bolero Neo, which is basically the re-badged TUV300. The next new Mahindra will be a 7-seater SUV, called the Mahindra XUV700. It will replace the XUV500, and will rival the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and the Tata Safari.

Mahindra has also confirmed that the 5-door Thar lifestyle SUV will be launched in 2022-23. The new model will ride on longer wheelbase and will receive more powerful engines. The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will arrive in early next year. Adding to it, the brand is working on two new electric SUVs for the Indian market.
