The much-awaited new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 will go on sale in the country on June 27, 2022. The launch also marks the 20th anniversary of Scorpio nameplate in the country. Mahindra has already released the exterior and interior images of the new Scorpio-N. The new model looks way more premium and feature-loaded compared to the current SUV. The current model will be sold alongside the new-gen model and will be called the Scorpio Classic.
Ahead of the launch, Mahindra has started dealer level staff training for the new Scorpio-N. The SUV has been spotted sans camouflage at one of the dealer stockyard. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 model will come with 6 and 7-seat options with former having captain seats in the second-row. The 6 and 7-seater variants 3rd row seats get 50:50 and 60:40 split function respectively.
The new set of images reveal design changes and the interior details of the SUV. The new Scorpio-N comes with a new grille with chrome vertical slats, flanked by dual-projector headlamps with sequential turn indicators. Also visible are the C-shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) on either sides of the bumper.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 retains the muscular boxy design, which is evident from the side profile. There is a strong beltline that runs across the width, and it seems inspired by the new XUV700. Chrome inserts are added on the door handles, while the cladding gets silver highlights. The SUV rides on a new dual-tone 2-spoke alloy wheels. The rear looks simple, featuring a large glass-house area, vertically stacked signature LED tail-lights, new tailgate and a large bumper.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 model comes with height adjustable seat belts, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Bosch-sourced AdrenoX, Alexa connectivity, connected car tech, a Sony-sourced 12-speaker system with 3D sound staging, an electric sunroof, an LED cabin light, a semi-digital instrument console, a dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, etc.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is significantly bigger than the current model. Riding on a longer wheelbase, the new model offers front facing third-row seats instead of the side-facing bench seats in the current model. For safety and security, the SUV offers multiple airbags, cruise control, 360 degree camera, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control and others.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 will be offered with two engine options – a 2.2L mHawk turbo diesel and a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol. The diesel engine is likely to offer two states of tunes – 130PS and 160PS, while the petrol engine will produce close to 170PS. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The new Scorpio comes with a part-time 4×4 system. The AWD system will come with the diesel version of the SUV. It comes with 4-high and 4-low gear ratios on its transfer case. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N’s 4Xplore offers 4 modes – Rough Road, Snow, Mud and Water. To improve off-roading capabilities, Mahindra has added manual locking rear differential.
