Mahindra & Mahindra recorded its highest ever sales of 54,455 units in February 2022, which is 89 percent higher than sales in the same last year. It’s the SUV segment that witnessed a growth of 79 percent, which highest ever monthly sales. With total sales of 27,551 units, the new Mahindra Thar and XUV700 emerged as the top sales contributors registering around 40 percent growth over the last month and up to 80 percent than the February 2021.
The company’s export numbers stood at 2,814 units. The home-grown automaker also witnessed growth of 119 percent in the commercial vehicles segment with total sales of 20,166 units. M&M Automotive Division CEO Veejay Nakra said that the company expects demand will continue to remain strong as the Covid situation eases further. The automaker continues to monitor the semiconductor and components supply and take corrective measures.
In fresh updates, the home-grown automaker is ready to unveil its three upcoming electric SUV concepts in July 2022. The company recently released the second teaser video of the new EVs that previews their silhouette. All three Mahindra electric SUVs will underpin the brand’s “Born-Electric” platform that’s designed at Electric Vehicle Tech Centre, at Mahindra North American Technical Centre in Detroit, USA, in collaboration with Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, India.
At present, Mahindra has also testing a couple of its upcoming models including the updated XUV300 and the new-generation Scorpio SUVs. While the former will come in the Q3, FY2022, the latter is slated to hit roads near around 2022 Diwali season. The 2023 Mahindra XUV300 facelift will receive minor design and feature upgrades along with a more powerful 1.2L mStallion petrol engine. Boosted with direct injection and cylinder heads with integrated exhaust manifolds, the new gasoline unit will deliver a claimed power of 130bhp and 230Nm of torque.
