Mahindra & Mahindra aims to strengthen its EV (electric vehicle) market in the coming years. Last year, the company revealed that it will launch eight electric cars by 2027. The plan outlines four electric derivatives from Mahindra’s range of petrol and diesel models and four new electric SUVs based on a “born-electric” platform.
The Born EV architecture has been designed at the Electric Vehicle Tech Centre, at Mahindra North American Technical Centre in Detroit, USA, in collaboration with Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, India. The upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs will be designed by the UK-based Mahindra Advance Design Europe (MADE) division that’s lead by Pratap Bose.
In February 2022, the home-grown automaker released first teaser of three new electric SUV concepts that will make global debut in coming July. While the automaker remains tight lipped about the upcoming models, it’s likely to be an electric compact SUV, a mid-size SUV and a SUV coupe. Now, the company has dropped yet another teaser showing silhouette of the new Mahindra electric SUVs. All three EVs have unique C-shaped LED signature at the front and rear.
As mentioned above, the upcoming Mahindra electric SUV range might include a compact SUV that’s likely to be an all-new model (not the Mahindra eXUV300). The other two models could be the Mahindra XUV900 Coupe SUV and the electric version of the Mahindra XUV700.
The XUV900 will be Mahindra’s first four-door SUV coupe that’s likely to share its platform with the XUV700. Its design and styling might share a few design elements with the Mahindra XUV Aero concept that first broke cover at the 2016 Auto Expo. Unlike the XUV Aero concept that has suicide doors, the production-ready Mahindra XUV900 coupe might feature the conventional front-hinged units. Its interior will be more premium than the XUV700.
