Royal Enfield Constellation Name Trademarked – New 650cc Bike?

Royal Enfield is working on a wide range of new motorcycles for the Indian market. The company will soon launch a new Scram 411 based on the Himalayan bike. Adding to it, RE is also developing multiple 650cc motorcycles and the next-gen Himalayan. Royal Enfield has also filed the trademark application for the Constellation name.

The Royal Enfield Constellation moniker is likely to be used for an upcoming 650cc motorcycle. The company is developing the Super Meteor 650, a SG650 concept based Classic motorcycle. Adding to it, RE is reportedly developing a 650cc version of the Himalayan.

It is expected that the upcoming 650cc Classic motorcycle could be called the Royal Enfield Constellation. The new motorcycle has been spotted testing numerous times on foreign soil. In fact, the bike has also been spotted testing in India.

The new RE Classic 650 is likely to be based on the same platform as the Interceptor/Continental GT 650. The middleweight motorcycle is a retro-styled roadster with circular headlamps and rear view mirrors. The motorcycle comes with wire-spoked wheels, twin exhausts and split seat. The new Classic motorcycle features conventional telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks.

For people not in the know, Royal Enfield used to sell Constellation 700 motorcycle in the North American market. It was sold between 1958 and 1963, and was equipped with a 36bhp, 692cc parallel twin engine. The motorcycle was later offered with a 736cc engine.

The new bike will get a 648cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine boosted with fuel injection technology. This engine produces 47S and 52Nm of torque. The Classic will have a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. The new motorcycle will have disc brakes along with dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard.
