Automakers have released the sales figures for the month of April 2022. The data shows that car manufacturers are still facing COVID-related challenges including semi-conductor chips and parts shortage. Brands like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have posted negative sales, few carmakers like Tata Motors, Skoda and Mahindra have reported positive sales growth.
Despite good demand, automakers continued to witness supply side constraints. Popular cars including Creta, XUV700, Thar and Baleno command huge waiting period. In this article, we talk about the car sales of Mahindra, Honda and Skoda for the month of April 2022.
Mahindra Sales April 2022
Mahindra’s overall auto sales has been increased significantly in the past few months. In the passenger vehicle segment, Mahindra delivered 22,526 cars in April 2022 as against 18,186 units in the same month last year. The company reported a YOY sales growth of 23 percent. However, Month-On-Month sales dipped by 18.39 percent. The company had delivered 27,603 cars in the month of March 2022.
Skoda Sales April 2022
Thanks to the new Kushaq and the Slavia, Skoda Auto India has posted a year-on-year growth of 436% in April 2022. The company sold 5,152 cars in the month of April 2022 compared to the 961 units in the same month last year. The company has recorded 10,000 bookings for the Slavia within a month of launch. In order to reach maximum customers, Skoda has increased its touchpoints to over 190 from 134 in start of 2021.
Honda Sales April 2022
Honda sold 7,874 cars in the month of April 2022 as against 9,072 units in the same month last year. The company reported a year-on-year sales decline of 13.21 percent. However, brand’s MoM sales improved by 19.5 percent.
Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The customer sentiment continues to show improvement and positivity, which is reflected in strong demand. However, the supply chain issues remain a challenge for the industry which is impacting the ability to meet the growing demand. We are hopeful that the situation improves sooner than later, so that the demand – supply equation can be more balanced.”
