Hyundai India Teases A New SUV – Ioniq 5 Or New Venue?

Hyundai India has released a teaser of its upcoming new SUV that will be unveiled in the next two days. The automaker uploaded images with a caption that reads “Some things are worth waiting for”. While the company hasn’t yet revealed name and details of the new model, it’s likely to be the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover or the updated Hyundai Venue. Recently, Hyundai confirmed that the Ioniq 5 will witness a market launch in the second half of 2022. It will be one of the upcoming Hyundai BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), which are slated to arrive by 2028.

Based on the E-GMP architecture, the Ioniq 5 will come to India as a CBU (Completely Built Up) unit and will be positioned as the company’s flagship EV. In global markets, the electric crossover is available with two powertrains – single motor setup and dual-motor setup with AWD. The single motor version is good for 169bhp and 350Nm and it can do 0 to 100kmph in 8.5 seconds. The dual-motor model can do 0 to 100kmph in 5.2 seconds and offers a maximum speed of 185kmph. There are two battery pack options – 72.6kWh and 58kWh – promising range of 481km and 386km respectively.

The updated Hyundai Venue is also reported to launch in May 2022. The SUV’s new model was caught testing multiple times and we have already got our hands on some interesting details. The new Venue will retain the existing engine-gearbox combos, while a few significant changes will be made to its design and interior. One of the major cosmetic upgrades will come in the form of the parametric grille along with the newly-designed alloy wheels. The SUV will also receive new rectangular shaped headlamps, revised rear bumper with a new faux skid plate and new tailgate with L-shaped taillamps. Inside, there could be an updated infotainment unit and new BlueLink connected car tech.

Other Upcoming Hyundai Cars

The South Korean carmaker is reportedly working on the CNG version of the Venue and Alcazar SUVs. Both models are likely to launch sometime soon. It will also bring in the updated Hyundai Kona EV in the second half of 2022.
