Mahindra EV (Electric Vehicle) Range Expansion Plans – Details

Mahindra & Mahindra aims to expand its electric vehicle (EV) product portfolio in coming years. Speaking to CNBC, Anish Shah, Mahindra Group’s Managing Director and CEO, has revealed that the company expects 50 percent of its sales will be from electric vehicles by 2030. The EV market is still in its early stage, but better infrastructure, lower cost of ownership and improved range might accelerate EV adoption across the country. The automaker is already selling multiple three and two-wheeler EVs including Treo e-rickshaw range, eVerito, eSupro, e2oPlus and eAlfa Mini. In coming years, Mahindra will introduce several new electric SUVs including eKUV100, eXUV300 and eXUV700. Rumour has it that the automaker might introduce the plug-in hybrid version of the new Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Mahindra XUV900 coupe SUV. The Mahindra eKUV100 will be the next EV from the home-grown automaker in the country.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Expected to launch in early 2022, the mini SUV is likely to come with a 15.9kWh battery pack and an electric motor delivering power worth 54bhp and 120Nm of torque. Compared to the regular model, the eKUV100 will look slightly different featuring Blue accents and minor cosmetic updates.

The Mahindra eXUV300 is reported to arrive towards the end of 2022 or early 2023. Its official launch timeline is yet to be revealed. Previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo, the compact electric SUV will be made available in Standard and Long-Range variants. While the former will feature a 350V battery pack and offer a range around 200km, the latter will come with the 380V battery and deliver a range of 375km.

If reports are to be believed, Mahindra has already prepared prototype of the Mahindra eXUV700. The model might have a 54kW battery pack and its final model is likely to hit roads by the end of decade. The automaker has already confirmed that it will launch two all-new Born EVs sometime in 2025-26.
