Mahindra has teased three new electric SUV concepts, which are scheduled to make global debut in July 2022. The new teaser video says that the three new models have been designed by the UK based Mahindra Advance Design Europe (MADE) division, which is headed by Pratap Bose.
Dubbed as the ‘Born Electric Vision’, the new concepts will preview the brand’s design direction for its future electric SUVs. The teaser video doesn’t reveal much about the new models. It is visible that the new concepts have unique styling, featuring C-shaped LED signatures at the front and rear. All models have slightly altered LED signatures.
The teaser also reveals that the three models include a compact SUV, a mid-sized SUV and an SUV Coupe. The new SUVs will be based on a new, bespoke ‘Born Electric’ EV platform.
The Coupe version is expected to preview the brand’s future XUV900 Coupe, which will be the brand’s flagship model. According to the AutoCarIndia, Mahindra has greenlighted its first ever SUV-Coupe (Codenamed W620). Mahindra hopes that this model will give it the first mover advantage in the SUV-Coupe segment.
The second model could be the all-electric version of the XUV700. However, nothing has been confirmed by the automaker. The third model could be the next generation XUV500, which will be positioned below the XUV700. The new XUV500 will be offered with multiple engine options including a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and an all-electric powertrain.
It is speculated that the smallest model is the eXUV300; however, we believe that it will be an all-new model – the new XUV500. The new Mahindra XUV300 electric is scheduled to be launched before the end of 2022-23 financial year – by March 2023.
