Mahindra BE 05 To Rival Upcoming Tata, Hyundai Electric SUVs

Mahindra & Mahindra has generated excitement among enthusiasts by unveiling its all-new Global Pik Up and Thar.e concepts, alongside a new range of Oja tractors. Among the highlights, the production-ready version of the Mahindra BE 05 electric SUV was showcased, set to debut on Indian roads by October 2025. Positioned to compete with the upcoming Tata Curvv EV and Hyundai Creta EV, slated for early 2024 launches, it will also contend with MG’s ZS EV, priced between Rs 23.38 lakh and Rs 28 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The BE 05’s prices are projected to commence from Rs 25 lakh.

The carmaker offered a top view of the BE 05 electric SUV, showcasing a spacious glass roof extending over a significant portion of the cabin. The model appears to retain most of the design elements from the concept. The SUV’s hood features a glossy black strip that likely accommodates sizable LED DRLs. The XUV700-inspired flush door handles are also evident in the image. The Mahindra BE 05 boasts elongated C-shaped LED taillamps and a rear spoiler.

While the interior has not been revealed, it is expected to feature a futuristic layout with dual display screens. Adjustments are likely to be made to enhance practicality for daily commuting. Mahindra has confirmed that its upcoming EVs will incorporate a new infotainment system with three 12.3-inch 720p screens, a 16-speaker Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound system, ADAS tech, a HUD unit projecting augmented reality (AR) visuals onto the windshield for navigation, onboard 5G connectivity, OTA updates, connected car technology, and vehicle-to-X (V2X) capabilities.

The Mahindra BE 05 will be based on the brand’s INGLO platform and will feature 175kW fast charging capabilities. While specific specifications of the EV are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated to include a 60kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 450km. Mahindra’s INGLO architecture supports both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, delivering power outputs of around 285PS and 394PS, respectively.
