Maruti Suzuki had launched the new Grand Vitara SUV in the country in the end of 2022. The SUV is positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun & Skoda Kushaq. MSIL is planning to export the new Grand Vitara SUV in several international markets. The company has recently exported the made-in-India Grand Vitara to Latin American markets from Kamarajar port. Now, the new Suzuki Grand Vitara is set to be launched in the Indonesian market.
Suzuki Indonesia has teased the new Grand Vitara and confirms that the new model will go on sale on February 16, 2023. As a part of the Suzuki-Toyota partnership, the new Suzuki Grand Vitara is manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant. Maruti Suzuki has already confirmed that it plans to export the new midsize SUV to over 60 countries including Middle Eastern markets, ASEAN markets, Latin America, Africa and others.
The Indonesian-spec model will be largely identical to the India-spec model. However, the export model could see a smaller capacity turbo petrol engine. In India, the Grand Vitara SUV is available with two engine options – a 1.5L K15C petrol with mild hybrid tech and a 1.5L TNGA petrol strong hybrid. The mild hybrid powertrain delivers a claimed power of 101bhp and 136Nm of torque. It can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. It comes with the optional Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system.
The self-charging hybrid SUV comes with four drive modes – EV, Eco, Power and Normal. The strong hybrid powertrain pushes out a maximum power of 92bhp at 5,500rpm and 122Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. The setup has an AC synchronous motor generating 79bhp and 141Nm. The maximum usable power and torque stands at 115bhp and 122Nm respectively. The strong hybrid powertrain is available with an e-CVT gearbox and promises a fuel economy of 28kmpl.
