Launched: New BMW X6 in India at Rs. 1.15 crore

BMW has rolled out the new-generation X6 Sports Activity Coupe in India at Rs. 1.15 crore (ex-showroom). The second-gen BMW X6 that was revealed at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, will compete against the Audi A5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Canyenne and Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Just like the old model, the new X6 is available only in the xDrive40d variant, and continues to be imported as CBU (Completely built up) unit in India.

Power for the new-gen X6 comes from a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, in-line diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 313bhp at 4,400rpm and 630Nm of torque between 1,500rpm – 2,500rpm. It’s the same engine that powered the previous model. Transmitting power to the all four-wheels (4WD) is an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new X6 is claimed to return an EU-certified fuel efficiency of 15.87kmpl. It can accelerate 0-100kmph in 5.8 seconds, while maintaining a top speed of 240kmph.

The new-gen X6 sits on a new platform that composed of high-strength steels, aluminum and thermoplastics. This makes the car 40kgs lighter than before. It has the 50:50 weight distribution between front and rear axles. The X6 also gets BMW’s M-Sport kit that consists of a three-spoke M-Sport steering wheel, M-branded sill plates with illumination and sporty bumpers.

As far as the features are concerned, the new-gen BMW X6 comes equipped with a Harman Kardon sound system, BMW’s iDrive connected multimedia system, Head-Up display, reverse camera, paddle shifter, leather seats, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a powered tailgate.
