Kia Sonet To Make Global Debut On 7th August In India

The production-ready Kia Sonet subcompact SUV will make its world debut in India on 7th August, 2020. The carmaker will livestream the debut via a live virtual event. Just so you know, the model first broke cover in its concept form at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo. The Sonet will be the third product from the South Korean carmaker in the country. Prospective buyers might be able to put down a reservation deposit a week after its global unveiling. Official price announcement is likely to be made in mid September, 2020.

In the company’s product lineup, the Kia Sonet will sit below the Seltos and take on the cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. Reports suggest that it might be priced from Rs 8 lakh (for the entry-level petrol variant) to Rs 12 lakh (for the top-end diesel model).

Upcoming Cars Under 10 Lakhs

Kia’s upcoming compact SUV will be India’s second car to get the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) gearbox. The new clutchless manual unit is said to ensure “an engaging driving experience, high fuel-efficiency” in heavy traffic situation. The model lineup will also be offered with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox options. The carmaker has confirmed that the Kia Sonet will have several segment-first features. Though, the official feature list is yet to be revealed. It’s likely to come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will be the largest in the segment. The unit will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Features such as Bose sound system, Kia’s UVO connected car technology, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and a start-stop button and a sunroof will also be on offer.
