Kia Sonet Final Model Spotted – 5 Key Things

Kia Sonet, the upcoming subcompact SUV from the South Korean carmaker, was recently spotted in its final production avatar during the test rounds in Haryana. The model was heavily camouflaged covering most of its details, save for the dual-tone alloy wheels and its boxy silhouette. The production-ready version will carry the signature tiger-nose grille with a mesh pattern, sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a high bonnet with muscular creases at the front end. Design bits such as dual-tone alloy wheels, pronounced wheel arches, roof rails, a window line rising sharply at the C-pillar, contrast coloured wing mirrors and roof and sweptback LED taillamps are likely to be carried over from the concept that was previewed at this year’s Auto Expo. The all-new Kia Sonet will be packed with several comfort goodies, connectivity and safety features. 1. Segment’s Largest Info System

The Sonet will come with a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be the largest in the segment. Sourced from the Kia Seltos, the unit will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2. Bose Sound System

In order to ensure a premium experience, the carmaker will equip the Sonet with the Bose sound system. Besides this, it will offer Kia’s UVO connected car tech, an electric sunroof, auto climate control, wireless charger, a multi information display push-button start-stop and many more.

3. Diesel Automatic

The Kia Sonet will be made available with three powertrains – a 1.2L petrol, a 1.5L diesel and a 1.0L GDi turbo petrol. All three engines are borrowed from the Hyundai Venue. While the diesel variants will be exclusively offered with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, the turbo-petrol model will come with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

4. Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT)

The carmaker will offer an iMT (intelligent manual transmission) with an auto rev-matching function on the 1.2L petrol variants. It allows changing gear in the absence of a clutch pedal.

5. Most Affordable Kia SUV

Kia has confirmed that the Sonet will arrive in August-October period. It will be the smallest and the most affordable SUV from the South Korean carmaker in the country. Prices of the SUV are likely to fall in the range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh.
