Kia Sonet Bookings Open Officially; Launch in September

The much-awaited Kia Sonet sub-4 meter SUV will finally go on sale in the Indian market in September 2020. Ahead of the launch, Kia Motors has officially started taking pre-bookings of the Sonet. Interested buyers can pre-book the SUV online or through official dealerships by paying an initial token amount of Rs 25,000.

The Kia Sonet compact SUV will be made available in 2 trim levels – HT Line and GT Line. The new model shares its platform and engine options with the Hyundai Venue. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. Also See – Kia Sonet vs Hyundai Venue

Kia Sonet Launch Date

The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine produces 82bhp and 113Nm of torque.

The Kia Sonet’s 1.5L turbo-diesel engine will offer two states of tunes – 99bhp/215Nm and 113bhp/245Nm. While the former will be paired to a 6-speed manual, the 113bhp unit will be coupled to a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

Kia Sonet Features

The Kia Sonet compact SUV will be equipped with several segment-leading comfort and convenience features. It comes with segment-largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, UVO connect connected car technology, front ventilated seats, smart air purifier with virus protection, multi-drive modes ad traction modes, remote engine start, 7-speaker Bose premium sound system, etc.

The SUV is equipped with high-end safety and security features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle stability Management (VSM), front parking sensors and tire pressure monitoring system. The new Sonet will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
