MG Gloster (Fortuner Rival) To Get AWD and 64 Colour Ambient Lighting

The British carmaker is ready to bring in its fourth product in the Indian market – the MG Gloster. The premium 7-seater SUV, which was previewed at this year’s Auto Expo, will hit roads in the month of October. It will be the flagship SUV from MG Motor in India that’s estimated to cost around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). The recently spy pictures confirm that the MG Gloster will be offered with 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system ensuring better traction control on rough terrains. The drivertrain system, however, will be made available on-demand. Engine setup of the SUV is likely to include a 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.0L, twin-turbo diesel unit.

MG Gloster Specs

The gasoline motor will come with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options and deliver power worth of 224bhp. The oil burner, on the other hand, will return 218bhp against 480Nm of torque. MG has already confirmed that the Gloster will have several segment-first safety features to offer including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking system, lane keeping assist, park assist and frontal collision warning. According to a latest report, the MG Gloster will be the first car in its segment to offer 64 colour ambient lighting feature.

There will be a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smarphone connectivity. The feature list will also include connected car technology, leather upholstery, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, power front seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions and more. Sharing its platform with the China-spec Maxus D90, the MG Gloster has massive body-built with muscular stance. Its overall length, width and height 5005mm, 1932mm and 1875mm stand at respectively. This makes it significantly bigger than both its arch rivals – Fortuner and Endeavour. Some of its design highlights include a large grille, projector lens headlamps with LED daytime running lights, pronounced wheel arches with 18-inch alloys and LED taillights.
