Kia Motors entered India with the Seltos mid-sized SUV in the end of August 2020. The SUV has received an excellent response from buyers. The company is currently selling two utility vehicles, the Seltos and the Carnival. The company has already delivered over 1 lakh cars in less than 1 year.
Kia is now ready to launch the much-awaited Sonet sub-4 meter SUV in the country in September 2020. A new media report claims that the company’s plans for India remain intact despite COVID-19 pandemic. Kia Motors will focus on utility vehicles for India.
The Korean brand will also export made-in-India SUVs and MPVs to emerging markets. The report further claims that the company is looking at multiple utility vehicles including SUVs and MPVs for the Indian market. These new models will have unique design and will be different from the conventional looking cars on sale in our market.
However, the company hasn’t revealed about the details of the upcoming cars. It is expected that the Korean brand could introduce the new-gen Kia Sorento SUV, which is bigger and more premium than the previous model. This 7-seater premium SUV will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace, Skoda Kodiaq and others.
Kia Motors is also readying an all-new compact MPV for the Indian market. The new MPV is rumoured to be based on the front-wheel-drive platform that also underpins the Seltos. In India, the new MPV will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo. The new model is likely to be launched in the end of 2021.
