Fresh details of the upcoming Kia Carens 6/7-seater MPV have been emerged online ahead of its global debut on December 16, 2021. As per the leaked information, the model lineup will come in multiple variants – L, LX, EX, EX+, TX and TX+. Select variants will be further categorized into different trims such as L: HTP/HTM, LX: Premium, EX: Prestige, EX+: Prestige+, TX: Luxury and TX+” Luxury+.
While its lower variants will be positioned against the Maruti Ertiga and the updated Maruti XL6 that’s due for early 2022, the range-topping variants will take on the Toyota Innova Crysta and Hyundai Alcazar.
Rumour has it that the new Kia three-row MPV will come with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). It might also be equipped with a 360 degree camera, wireless smartphone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The higher trim will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leather wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, leather seat upholstery, a single pane sunroof and 6 USB-C ports (two for each row occupants).
Interestingly, the Kia Carens will also be the first vehicle in its segment to feature an electronic button for accessing the third row seats. For entertainment purpose, there will be a Bose sound system. The ambient lighting colour options, ventilated front seats, Kia’s UVO connectivity suite, AI assisted voice commands and a digital instrument cluster will add more to its premium appeal.

With respect to safety, the new Carens MPV will offer multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), hill start assist and rear parking sensors.
On the engine front, Kia Carens MPV will offer 1.4L turbo petrol with the 6-speed manual and DCT automatic gearbox options. The gasoline unit makes power worth 140PS with 242Nm of torque. The MPV will also be available with a 1.5L turbocharged engine paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. The oil burner delivers a peak power of 115PS and 250Nm of torque.
