3 More Tesla Electric Cars Get Approval For India Launch

Tesla’s India market entry is surely one of the much-awaited events of the automobile industry. The company is still in talks with the government to reduce import duties on EVs. Though, it has already registered the firm as Tesla India Motors And Energy Private Limited with its headquarter setup in Bengaluru, Karnataka. In fact, the company has hired its top official representatives and ready to open showrooms and service centers in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

According to a fresh media report, the American auto giant has received approval to launch seven electric vehicles (EVs) in India. Recently, the automaker got approval for three more models along with the Tesla Model 3. One must note that there is no official word on the same. The official launch timeline of the upcoming Tesla cars are yet to be revealed. Initially, the Tesla cars in India will be brought via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

Tesla Model 3 Features

Tesla Model 3, the entry-level electric car from the American automaker, will be the first offering in India. The vehicle has been caught on camera multiple times during its test rounds in the country. Globally, the electric sedan is offered with the single and dual motor options. The entry-level RWD Standard Range Plus variants offers a range of 423km and does 0 to 100kmph in under 6 seconds, while the dual-motor Long Range AWD version have a range of 568km and accelerates 0-100kmph in under 4.5 seconds. The Model 3’s range-topping Performance version is claimed to offer a maximum speed of over 260kmph. It’s capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 3 seconds.

From its global model lineup, Tesla might bring in the Model S, Model X and Model Y. In global markets, the company will introduce the Tesla Cybertruck electric pick-up truck and a new Roadster convertible electric car. The electric pick-up truck, which is currently in its testing phase, might enter into production sometime next year.
