Kia has launched the new Carens 3-row MPV in the country on February 15, 2022. The Kia Carens was launched in the price bracket of Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 16.99 lakh. The MPV has received an overwhelming response with over 50,000 bookings in less than 3 months. In fact, select variants of the MPV commands a waiting period of over 5 months.
The Korean automaker dispatched over 7,000 units of the Carens MPV last month. The company has now phased out the introductory pricing of the 3-row MPV. Moreover, Kia has increased the prices of the vehicle’s entire range. The 3-row MPV price hike ranges from Rs 20,000 – 70,000.

The Kia Carens is available in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus – and in 3 engine options. While prices of some variants have increased by Rs 20,000, some top-spec diesel variants prices have been hiked by Rs 70,000.
The 3-row MPV 1.5 petrol version is now available in the price bracket of Rs 9.59 lakh to Rs 10.69 lakh. On the other hand, the Carens 1.4 Petrol costs Rs 11.19 lakh for the base Premium that goes up to Rs 17.49 lakh for the top-spec Luxury+ 7S AT. The 1.5 diesel is now priced between Rs 11.39 lakh and Rs 17.69 lakh.
It is offered in 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 1.4L turbocharged petrol. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine is good for 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, while the turbo-diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. The turbo-charged petrol engine is capable of producing 138bhp and 242Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Other transmission options include a 7-speed DCT with 1.4L turbo petrol and a 6-speed torque convertor with 1.5L diesel. The automatic variants also comes with multi drive modes – Normal, Eco & Sport along with paddle shifters.
In terms of safety and security, the new Carens gets 6 airbags, ESC, VSM, BAS, HAC, DBC (Downhill Brake Control), all wheel disc brakes, TPMS, rear parking sensors & ABS as standard. In terms of proportions, the new Kia Carens MPV is 4,540mm long, 1800mm wide and 1700mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm. It is 40mm longer, 10mm wider and 25mm taller than the Alcazar and have 20mm longer wheelbase.
