Kia Carens Launch Date 15th February – Alcazar, Safari Rival

Kia India has confirmed that the prices of the Carens will be announced on 15th February 2022. Its deliveries are likely to begin by early March. In terms of pricing, the Kia Carens will take on multiple products right from Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Innova Crysta to Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. It’s estimated to cost between Rs 12 lakh – Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). Touted as a ‘Recreational Vehicle’, the model is said to offer attributes of both SUV and MPV.  Kia’s Anantapur based facility in Andhra Pradesh serves as a production hub for the Carens. The overall length, width and height of the new Kia family car stand at 4540mm, 1800mm and 1700mm respectively. It has the longest wheelbase in the segment – i.e. 2780mm. Interior of the Carens has been packed with lots of goodies such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and Kia’s UVO connect, a fully digital instrument cluster, a multi function steering wheel with audio controls, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, seat back tables with cup holders and an air purifier.

The Kia Carens offers an electrically powered, one-touch tumble down feature for the second row occupants, which is first-in-segment. The standard safety kit of the vehicle includes hill start assist, 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and disc brakes at all four wheels.

Buyers will have two petrol and one diesel engine to choose from. There will be a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (115bhp/144Nm), a 1.4L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol (140bhp/242Nm) and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel (115bhp/250Nm). The petrol motors will be available with a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox (for the 1.4L turbo petrol unit only). The oil burner can be had with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.
