American SUV maker, Jeep is all set to unveil the much-awaited new compact SUV, which has already been spotted multiple times during its test rounds. In fact, undisguised photos of the EV version of the SUV have also hit the web world. Rumoured to be called the Jeep Jeepster, the new baby SUV is expected to be unveiled in October at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.
This time around, the ICE version of the Jeep Jeepster has been spotted testing. The latest spy images also reveal the interior of the baby SUV. The cabin was not covered, which allows us to see the final design of the production model.
The digital cockpit layout seems inspired by the Peugeot 2008; however, the SUVs interior components are different. It shares few generic buttons and switches with the Peugeot sibling. The Jeep Jeepster comes with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which seems identical to the 10.25-inch unit available on the Fiat 500 EV.
The dashboard has a full-width climate vents, few physical buttons next to the volume knob and a large tray covering more than half of the dashboard. There are several storage spaces on the centre console. Also the metal gearshifter reveals that the spotted model is a manual Jeep.
The spotted Jeepster is an ICE-powered model, as it has an exhaust pipe sticking out of the rear end. It is expected to share its styling cues with the EV variant. The signature Jeep grille is fully covered and the lower air-dams will have to do the jobs in terms of cooling. The SUV has LED lights, pronounced fenders, skid plates, rear spoiler, and cube-shaped taillights.
The new Jeep Jeepster will ride on the Stellantis CMP/eCMP architecture that underpins a wide range of models including the Citroen C3, the Peugeot 2008 and the next-gen Fiat 500X. The new model is expected to come in front-wheel-drive layout with ICE and EV powertrains.
The electric variant is likely to come with a 50kWh battery pack with a front-mounted electric motor producing 134hp. The India-spec ICE powered model is likely to get a 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine with a mild hybrid setup.
