Jeep Commander 7-seater SUV was recently made its world debut in Brazil. In India, the model is likely to be launched by mid 2022 with a new nameplate – Jeep Meridian. While its India launch is a few months away, a latest video shows its off-road capabilities. The SUV seems capable to handle different terrains right from hill climbs, hill descent to wheel articulation. It also goes over boulders and logs without any difficulties. It’s claimed to be the “biggest and most sophisticated Jeep ever produced in Brazil”. Jeep’s Ranjangaon based plant will serve as production hub for the Commander’s right-hand drive (RHD) version.

Globally, the Jeep Commander will be made available with 1.3L turbo petrol and 2.0L turbo diesel engines making power worth 185bhp with 270Nm and 178bhp with 380Nm respectively. Visually, the Jeep Commander (Jeep Meridian) appears longer than the Compass. In fact, minor cosmetic changes have also been made to the three-row SUV. While some of its design bits seem carried over from the Grand Cherokee L, a few borrowed from the Compass including chrome detailing, front grille and upper edges of the windows. Its other design highlights include rectangular full-LED headlamps, LED DRLs, differently designed front bumper with large faux vents, longer rear overhangs and slim taillamps.
