Hyundai i20 N Line Launch Tomorrow – Price Expectations

The South Korean carmaker will finally introduce its N performance brand in India with the launch of Hyundai i20 N Line. Official bookings for the model have already been commenced online and at Hyundai dealerships at a token sum of Rs 25,000. Its prices will be announced tomorrow – i.e. 2nd September, 2021.

Variants & Expected Price

The new i20 N Line will be made available in three variants – N6 iMT, N8 iMT and N8 DCT. It will be positioned as the top-end variant of the i20 hatchback range. At present, the fully-loaded i20 Asta (O) turbo-DCT variant costs Rs 11.40 lakh. The N Line version is expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.50 lakh premium over its standard counterpart. It won’t have any direct rival in India.

Design Details

The new Hyundai i20 N Line carries sportier cosmetic enhancements over the regular model. The carmaker has also tuned its suspension setup and exhaust note. Talking about the design, the N Line model features a ‘chequered flag’ inspired front grille, dual-tone bumper with integrated fog lamps and sporty red accents, N Line logo and a front splitter. The i20 N Line comes with the newly-designed 16-inch alloy wheels along with the red front brake calipers and a side sill garnish with red inserts. The twin exhaust pipes, sportier bumper with a pronounced diffuser, taillamp clusters connected via a dark chrome garnish and a tailgate spoiler with side wings enhance its rear appearance.

Colour Options

The i20 N Line hatchback will be offered in 4 monotone (Thunder Blue (new), Titan Grey, Fiery Red and Polar White) and two dual-tone (Fiery Red with Phantom Black roof and Thunder Blue with Phantom Black roof) colour options.

Interior and Features

The all-black interior with red highlights and red ambient lighting looks sporty. The leatherette seats have a new chequered flag design with N logo, N branded leather gear knob, a bespoke three-spoke steering wheel and sporty metal pedals distinguish it from the standard i20. Most of its features are carried over from the regular model. Though, it additionally gets new voice functions and an updated BlueLink app with 16 free OTA (over-the-air) updates.

Engine and Mechanical Changes

The new Hyundai i20 N Line derives its power from the 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers a peak power of 120bhp and 172Nm of torque. The hatchback comes with the 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox options. As mentioned above, the i20 N Line has a sportier exhaust note than the standard model. In fact, its suspension unit has been tuned for delivering better performance around corners. The hatchback has four disc brakes fitted at each corner. The carmaker says its on-centre steering feel has also been improved.
