Jeep Commander (Meridian) Interior, Exterior Revealed – Fortuner Rival

Jeep Commander, the three-row SUV from the American automaker, has finally been revealed via official images. The model was internally known as Jeep Low-D and its production-ready version will be named Jeep Meridian in India. While Brazil will be the first market to receive the SUV, its India launch will happen in mid 2022. In Brazil, the three-row SUV will be produced at the carmaker’s Goiana based facility. The Jeep Commander (Jeep Meridian) is the longer, more spacious and premium version of the Compass SUV. Some of its design bits seem inspired by the Grand Cherokee L including rectangular full-LED headlamps and slim taillamps. While the front grille with backward folded top section looks similar to the Compass 5-seater, the newly-designed front bumper and large faux vents with LED DRLs and fog lamps with a chrome strip running across the front mark distinction to its portfolio.

Compared to the Compass, the new three-row Commander is around 364mm longer, 41mm wider and 42mm higher. The latter one measures 4769mm in length, 1859mm in width and 1682mm in height. The new Commander SUV sits on a wheelbase of 2794mm, which is nearly 158mm longer the 5-seat Compass. The Jeep Meridian (Commander) quarter windows and rear doors are larger and rear overhand is than its younger sibling. The new Jeep 7-seater SUV has an additional third-row of seats with USB charging ports and blower speed adjustments. The middle row seats have a split ratio of 60:40 that provides easy access to the last row of seats. Most of its features are similar to the Compass facelift that’s already on sale in India.

What differentiate it from the Compass are the dashboard with new metal inserts and a suede fabric trim on the dashboard and door panels, ‘Jeep 1941’ embossment on the front centre armrest, rose gold accents on the center console, brown leather upholstery with embroidered suede details.  

In India, the new Jeep Commander (Jeep Meridian) SUV will come with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder Multijet diesel engine making power worth 200bhp. The same powertrain could also be offered with the mild hybrid technology. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
