The new teaser video reveals that the new Jeep Commander will have a boxier shape compared to the rounded profile of the Compass. The length of the SUV has been extended significantly to create more space inside the cabin. The SUV will have longer rear overhangs, which will allow Jeep engineers to add third row of seats.

The SUV will get a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with UConnect 5 software.

It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which also powers the Compass. it is reported that the Commander could get a twin-turbocharged version of the diesel engine, which is likely to produce around 200bhp and over 400Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
