March 2021 was a decent month for the two-wheeler industry in terms of sales. A total of 14,43,320 units were sold against 8,10,723 units of the same month last year, registering a growth of 78%. India’s largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp recorded sales of 5,44,340 units as opposed to 3,05,932 units of March 2020. Honda 2Wheeler and TVS Motor Company stood at number 2nd and 3rd with total sales of 3,95,037 units and 2,02,155 units respectively.

Talking about India’s 5 top-selling bikes, the list includes three Hero, two Bajaj and a Honda model. The Hero Splendor retains the top spot with total sales of 2,80,0085 units, which is 34,000 units higher compared to February 2021. Honda CB Shine reported sales of 1,17,943 units and grabbed the third position in the sales chart. The fourth and fifth positions are taken by Bajaj Pulsar and Bajaj Platina with total sales of 80,827 units and 69,025 units respectively.

Honda Activa continues to dominate the scooter segment recording total sales of 19,39,640 units in March 2021. Though, its year-on-year (YoY) sales declined by 25%. The TVS Jupiter reported sales of over 5.4 lakh units against 5.95 lakh units of the same month previous year.
While Honda 2Wheelers managed to sell 3,14,417 units of the Dio, TVS Motor retailed 2,51,491 units of the NTorq. With total sales of 2,03,594 units, the Hero Pleasure grabbed the fifth spot in the sales chart. Hero Destni 125 and Hero Maestro recorded sales of 1,44,332 units and 95,533 units respectively and stood at number 6 and 9. Yamaha retailed 1,30,648 units of the Ray and 1,08,496 units of the Fascino scooter. The TVS Pep+ was India’s 10th top-selling scooter last month.
