Honda 2-wheelers is all set to launch an all-new 200cc motorcycle, likely to be called the Hornet 200R on August 27, 2020. The company has already teased the new motorcycle, which shows that the new bike will be designed on the CBF190R. A new media report claims that the Japanese two-wheeler brand is also planning to introduce a new entry-level commuter bike.
The new commuter bike will be aimed at rural markets. Speaking to ET Auto, Atsushi Ogata, President, CEO and MD, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said that the company is aiming to introduce entry-level affordable bikes to cater to customers in rural areas.
It is expected that the new Honda motorcycle will be positioned below the CD 110. Priced at Rs 64,505 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the CD 110 is currently the most affordable Honda motorcycle in our market. It is expected that the new motorcycle could be priced under Rs 60,000 and will be positioned as an affordable alternative to Hero Splendor and TVS Radeon. In fact, it could be positioned against the Bajaj CT 100 and TVS Victor.
Honda’s entry-level CD 110 bike is powered by a 109.51cc, single-cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed gearbox. This engine is good for 8.67bhp and 9.30Nm. The upcoming entry-level commuter could feature the same engine. The exact launch timeline for the new entry-level motorcycle is yet to be announced by the automaker.
