India’s Top 10 SUVs In 2021 – Market Share Wise

2021 has been an unpredictable year for the Indian automobile industry so far. The second wave of the lockdown not only delayed all the important launch plans, but impacted the sales of the passenger vehicles as well. However, the SUV segment managed to gathered volume of 3,65,514 units in the last 5 months. Here’s a list of the top 10 selling SUVs of 2021.

Hyundai Creta retained the top spot with total market share of 15.69%, which is slightly higher than the previous year (15.17%). Just so you know, the compact SUV entered into its second generation with comprehensive design changes, feature upgrades and efficient powertrains. The new model crossed 1,39,204 units sales milestone in the 14 months, till April 2021. The second spot was grabbed by Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV that holds 13.63% of market share.

Similar to the previous year, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza stood at number third holding market share of 12.95%. The fourth and fifth spots were captured by Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet with market share of 11.24% and 10.86% respectively. Both SUVs received their first mid-life update in May 2021. The updated models come with Kia’s new logo along with minor cosmetic changes.

With market share of 10.45%, Tata’s Nexon subcompact SUV stood at number six. Recently, the carmaker rolled out its 200,000th unit from the Ranjangaon based plant in Pune, Maharashtra. Currently, it’s available with the 110bhp, 1.5L diesel and 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine options. Mahindra’s top-selling Bolero SUV grabbed the seventh spot with market share of 8.49% and Scorpio stood at number ninth position with market share of 4.19%.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso captured the eighth position, holding 8.33% market share. At present, the small SUV comes in the price range of Rs 3.77 lakh – Rs 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ford EcoSport, with market share of 4.17%, managed to make its space at the tenth spot in the list.
