Force Motors had showcased the Gurkha off-roader at the 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. In fact, brochure pictures of the new Gurkha have also been leaked on the web world. Using social media handles, Force has officially announced that the new Gurkha will be introduced soon.
The new Force Gurkha is based on the new ladder-on-frame chassis. The SUV features all-new stronger bodyshell, which will meet the existing crash test standards and the upcoming pedestrian safety norms. The new model comes with all-new front grille, which is flanked by retro-styled headlamps with LED DRLs.
The SUV retains the old-school rugged design, featuring upright front, pronounced wheel arches with cladding and newly-styled 16-inch alloys. The SUV also gets new fog lamp assembly, new bumpers and new tail-lamps. The new Force Gurkha will also come with multiple accessories including Snorkel, a roof carrier and tailgate mounted spare wheel.
The cabin of the new Force Gurkha has received majority of the changes, as it now gets modern features. The SUV comes with new dashboard with hard plastic, a touchscreen infotainment system, new instrument console and revised buttons for AC unit. The infotainment system is likely to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is a digital MID unit placed right between the speedometer and tachometer. The SUV’s steering wheel comes with tilt adjustment function. The new Force Gurkha is a 3-door off-roader SUV, offering front-facing seats for the second-row occupants and optional side facing seats for the third row.
It will be powered by a BS6-compliant diesel engine that churns out 90bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Compared to the BS4 version, the updated engine is more powerful. The lifestyle SUV will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with manual locking differentials controlled through levers. The new Fource Gurkha also comes with the 2WD (two-wheel drive) system.
