The German luxury carmaker has finally revealed the 2021 Audi Q2 SUV with sharper looks and new powertrain. It’s the smallest SUV in the company product portfolio. We expect that the carmaker will also bring in the Audi Q2 facelift in India this month (September, 2020) instead of its pre-facelift model. It won’t have any direct rival here. Here’re 6 key changes that have been made to the new model.
1. Audi’s New Design Language
The 2021 model year of the Q2 features Audi’s latest design language that makes it looks more rugged. It has polygon-inspired design characterizing its front and should line, to the rear end as well. The front bumper has diffuser insert with lager five-sided polygons. The front section of the SUV now appears wider, thanks to its slightly lower octagonal singleframe. Some of other key changes include new alloy wheels, revised taillamps with dynamic turn signals and revised rear bumper.
2. LED/Matrix LED Headlamps
Audi has made the LED headlamps as standard across the new Q2 facelift lineup. Its shared module has seven individual LEDs that produce an intelligently controlled high beam light. The updated Q2 also comes with optional Matrix LED headlamps with standard dynamic turn signal.
3. New Colours
The 2021 Audi Q2 facelift comes in five new colour schemes, namely, Apple Green, Manhattan Gray, Arrow Gray, Navarra Blue and Turbo Blue. The C-pillars’ blade are painted in vehicle colour or kept in Gray, Black and Silver shades, depending on the equipment line.
4. Upmarket Interior
Interior has also witnessed noticeable changes. An 8.3-inch infotainment system is integrated on the top of the dashboard. The air vents and gear lever knob of the S tronic look new. While the lower trims come with an analog instrument cluster, the higher variants are equipped with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display. The Alcantara material has been replaced with Dinamica microfiber material. For entertainment purpose, the updated Q2 offers the Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 14, 705 watts loundspeakers.
5. Multiple Engines
On the engine front, the 2021 Audi Q2 facelift will have three petrol TFSI and two TDI diesel motors. In Europe, the SUV will be made available with a single 1.5L TFSI petrol engine that’s good enough for 148bhp and 250Nm. Transmission duties will be done by a 6-speed manual (standard) and a 7-speed S Tronic automatic (optional) gearbox. In India, the updated Q2 is likely to come with a 190bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro AWD system.
6. Driver Assist Systems
The 2021 Audi Q2 facelift gets Audi pre sense front system and lane departure warning system as standard fitments. The optional systems have been divided into three packages – Drive, Safety and Park. The drive assist package includes a new adaptive cruise assist with MMI navigation plus, Audi virtual cockpit and S tronic. The safety assist package, on the other hand, comes with the side assist, Audi pre sense back, Audi pre sense rear systems and rear cross traffic assist. The park assist package comes as an upgrade.
