Unofficial bookings of the upcoming MG Gloster premium SUV are reported to be commenced at dealership level across the country. The model can be pre-booked by paying an initial sum of around Rs 1 lakh. MG’s new 7-seater SUV is slated to launch in the month of October (i.e. near around Diwali season). Based on the China-spec Maxus D90, the Gloster will be the brand’s flagship SUV in the country. Estimated to be priced from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), it will be placed against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4.
Talking about its engine, the new MG 7-seater SUV is likely to come with 2.0L turbo petrol and twin-turbo diesel engine options. While the gasoline motor will deliver power around 224PS with 350Nm of torque, the oil burner will return 218PS with 480Nm. Similar to the global-spec Maxus D90, the Gloster might be offered with a 6-speed automatic (for petrol variants) and an 8-speed ZF automatic (for diesel variants) gearbox. The SUV can be had with 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system and multiple driving modes.
On the feature front, the MG Gloster will have several class-leading goodies to offer including a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It will also have an 8-0-inch digital instrument cluster. The carmaker says that the Gloster will be India’s first autonomous premium SUV featuring autonomous emergency braking system. Some of its other key features will include an Audi-like gear selector (AT variants), a flat bottom steering with mounted control,s a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, tan leather seats with diamond quilt pattern, powered front seats with ventilation, heating and massage function, electronic parking brake and many more.
