Hyundai Venue CNG Under Consideration?

With the increasing fuel prices, car manufacturers are witnessing strong demand for CNG-powered vehicles. Therefore, automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Toyota and Honda are planning to expand their CNG product portfolio in near future. Talking about Hyundai Motor India, the South Korean carmaker currently offers three CNG models – Santro, Grand i10 Nios and Aura. Speaking to Autocar Professional, Tarun Garg, Director – Sales, Marking and Service at Hyundai Motor India has revealed that the demand of the Aura CNG and Grand i10 Nios NG has been increased up to 70 percent and 25-20 percent respectively. The company retailed a total of 19,061 CNG vehicles in the April to September 2021, which is 238 percent higher than the same time period last year. A total of 1,01,412 units of CNG-powered Hyundai cars were in the first half of this financial year, which is around 19 percent market share. At present, the automaker sells over 4,000 CNG cars on monthly basis and it’s expected to go up to 5,000 units in the next 2-3 months. In order to strengthen its market, Hyundai will bring in more CNG variants of its existing models.

The automaker believes that the demand of petrol and CNG variants is high in the entry-level segment than the compact SUV space. Though, it might consider the Hyundai Venue CNG if the market demands it. For now, the Venue comes with the 1.5, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine options. While the oil burner and turbo petrol units are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the turbo-petrol is exclusively offered with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. The 1.2L petrol motor comes with the single 5-speed gearbox.

Prices of the Hyundai Venue start from Rs 6.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 11.85 lakh. While the petrol variants cost between Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 11.85 lakh, the diesel models come in the price range of Rs 9.52 lakh – Rs 11.79 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
