Hyundai To Launch 4 SUVs In 2022 – New Tucson To Creta Facelift

Korean automaker, Hyundai is planning to launch 4 new SUVs in the Indian market before the end of FY 2022-23 (April 2022 to March 2023). With new SUVs, the company is aiming to regain its lost market. Out of these 4 SUVs, 3 models will be the facelifted versions of existing models.

The company plans to launch the new Venue facelift in the country by mid-2022. The new model has already been spotted numerous times on the Indian roads. With facelift, Hyundai will also introduce the N-Line variant with sporty design elements and suspension setup. It will receive the brand’s new design identity, which we have already seen on the new Tucson in the international markets.

The updated Venue will be offered with the existing engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2L NA petrol, a 118bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and a 99bhp, 1.5L diesel.

Hyundai has already presented the new Creta facelift in South East Asian markets. The new model will also arrive in our market before the end of this year, most probably around festive season Diwali. The new model will come with significantly revised exterior along with addition of new features. The front fascia will have a new ‘Parametric Jewel’ grille with integrated LED DRLs. The main headlamp unit is placed lower on the bumper.

The India-spec model is likely to get advanced features such as six airbags, ESC (electronic stability control) and ISOFIX as standard. It will also get a new digital driver’s display and a 360 degree camera. The vehicle is also likely to get ADAS with features like blind spot monitoring, lane assist, adaptive cruise control & automatic emergency braking.  It won’t receive mechanical updates & the engine options will include  – a 113bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4L turbocharged petrol. Transmission options are likely to be similar to the existing model.

Hyundai is likely to launch the new Tucson in the second half of 2022. The new model will rival the likes of the VW Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross & Jeep Compass. If reports are to be believed, Hyundai will launch the long wheelbase version of the SUV in the country. It is likely to be a 7-seater version instead of the 5-seater model on sale in overseas. The SUV has 80mm longer wheelbase, while the overall length has been increased by 150mm. The India-spec model is likely to be offered with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engine that powers the outgoing model.

Hyundai will give a mid-life facelift to the Kona EV in the country in 2022. Already on sale in international markets, the new model has received comprehensive cosmetic and feature updates. It comes with new headlamps, revised bumpers, wheel arches with body colour finish, new alloys & less body cladding. It comes equipped with a new 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity, updated BlueLink connected car tech, blindspot assistance, safe exit warning and more. It will come with the 39.2kWh battery and 136bhp electric motor. The SUV could also introduce a larger battery pack with the new Kona EV.
