Hyundai has been testing the new 3-row MPV on the Indonesia roads. Likely to be called the Hyundai Stargazer, the new MPV will first go on sale in Indonesia. It is also expected to be launched in the Indian market; however, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same.
The Indonesian media claims that the new Hyundai Stargazer MPV will be positioned against the likes of the Toyota Avanza and the Mitsubishi Xpander. In fact, the name Hyundai Stargazer has entered the DKI Jakarta Motor Vehicle Sales Value (NJKB) website in April 2022.
Moreover, prices of the Hyundai Stargazer for the Indonesian market has also been leaked. The website claims that the new 3-row MPV will be offered in 4 trim levels – Active, Trend, Style and Prime. The MPV is reportedly to be priced between Rp 155,000,000 (Approx INR 8.23 lakh) and Rp 202,000,000 (Approx INR 10.72 lakh).
The Active and Trend trims will come in manual and automatic gearbox options, while the Style and Prime trims will only come with automatic gearbox.

The new Hyundai Stargazer features the traditional 3-row MPV styling with dimensions similar to the Mitsubishi Xpander. It will be one of the first models to roll out from the company’s new Indonesia plant. The MPV is likely to measure around 4.5 meters in length, which is similar to the Alcazar. Featuring cab-forward bodystyle, the MPV gets split headlamp setup, a uniquely styled grille (inspired by new Tucson), a shark fin antenna and a sloping roofline.
The spy images also reveal that the Hyundai Stargazer will have unique 7-spoke alloy wheels. It is likely to be offered in 6 and 7-seat layout. The vehicle could share the interior components with the Creta/Alcazar. The new model could also receive the Hyundai SmartSense feature.
The new Hyundai Stargazer is likely to be powered by a SmartStream 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Creta. This engine is capable of producing 113.4bhp at 6,400rpm and a peak torque of 143.8Nm at 4,500rpm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission called IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). The India-spec model could also receive a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that is good for 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. It could also get a 138bhp, 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine with manual and 7-speed DCT.
