Hyundai Stargazer 7-Seater MPV – Will it come to India?

Hyundai Stargazer, the new three-row MPV from the South Korean automaker, is ready to make its debut at the 2022 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The auto event will be held between 11th – 21st August in Jakarta. As of now, there is no official word for its India launch. Though, reports suggest that the carmaker is planning to tap the affordable MPV segment that’s currently ruled by the Maruti Suzuki Eritga. The newly-launched Kia Carens has also been doing good in terms of sales. We think it would be logical setup for Hyundai to introduce the Stargazer in the Indian market.

Measuring around 4.5 meters in length, the Hyundai Stargazer MPV will feature the brand’s new parametric jewel grille, split headlamp design with high-set LED DRLs and light clusters placed on the lower section of the front bumper. It will have a tear-drop profile with rising window line, curved roof, squared-out wheel arches and pronounced shoulder line. At the back, the MPV will carry triangular vertically positioned taillamps, boot lid with T-shaped LED elements and tailgate featuring a large hexagonal windshield.

Interior details of the new Hyundai MPV are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to share features with the Venue subcompact and Creta mid-size SUVs. We expect it to come with a digital instrument console, a multi functional steering wheel, a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic AC unit, rear AC vents and more. Rumour has it that it could be packed with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.

The Hyundai Stargazer is reported to be offered in 4 trims – Active, Trend, Style and Prime. Under the hood, it might employ a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine making 113.4bhp and 143.8Nm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Creta. In India, the new Hyundai MPV might also be offered with a 1.5L diesel engine as well. There could be two gearboxes on offer a 6-speed manual and an automatic called iVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).
