The list of top 10 best-selling cars for the last month (January 2021) is finally out and as usual it’s dominated by Maruti Suzuki with 7 models. While the Maruti Suzuki Alto continues to hold the top spot with total sales of 18,260 units, the Hyundai Creta and Venue emerged as top selling SUVs of the month. The Maruti Suzuki Swift (17,180 units), WagonR (17,165 units) and Baleno (16,648 units) hatchbacks stood at number 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. The Indo-Japanese carmaker sold 15,125 units of the Dzire compact sedan (5th rank) and 11,680 units of the Eeco van (8th rank). While the Hyundai Grand i10 grabbed the 9th spot with total sales of 10,865 units, the Maruti Vitara Brezza stood at 10th position with sales of 10,623 units.

Recently, the South Korean carmaker increased prices of the new Creta by up to Rs 31,500. The model lineup is now available in the price range of Rs 9.99 lakh – Rs 17.48 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The new Hyundai Creta comes with 3 engines – a 115hp, 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and a 115hp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel.
While the naturally-aspirated petrol unit is offered with the 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options, the turbo-petrol motor is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Prices of the Hyundai Venue have also been revised. At present, the subcompact SUV costs Rs 6.86 lakh for the base model and Rs 11.66 lakh for the top-end variant. The Venue is being offered with three engines (2 petrol and 1 diesel) and 4 gearbox options (6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, iMT and 7-speed DCT).
