Yamaha, Bajaj, Hero, Honda, Royal Enfield – Bike, Scooter Sales Jan 2021

Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, Indian buyers are now looking personal mobility instead of shared mobility. Two wheeler brands are recording positive growth in the past 3-4 months, and the trend is expected to continue in the future as well. Introduction of new motorcycles and scooters have also helped brands to record positive growth.

Royal Enfield – 5% Growth

Royal Enfield has recorded 5 percent year-on-year growth for sales in January 2021. The company sold 68,887 units as against 63,520 units in the same month last year. Royal Enfield exported 4,515 units in January 2021, which is a significant rise of 103 percent.

Royal Enfield will launch multiple new motorcycles including the new Classic 350, new Hunter Neo-Classic 350 and the 650cc Cruiser motorcycle. The company aims to further boost sales in the fast growing Indian auto market. 

Bajaj – 8% Growth

Homegrown two-wheeler maker recorded a positive growth of 8 percent in total sales for January 2021. The company sold 4,25,199 units as against 3,94,473 units in same month last year. In domestic market, the company delivered 1,57,404 units in January 2021 which is slightly lower than the 1,57,796 units sold in January 2020.

Hero MotoCorp – 9.18% Decline

Hero MotoCorp has recorded sales decline of 9.18 percent in January 2021. The company sold 4,49,037 units as against 4,94,432 units in same month last year. The total wholesales of motorcycles and scooters stood at 4,85,889, which is 3.14% less compared to the January 2020. Scooter sales are increased significantly, as company delivered 36,582 units compared to the 7,190 units sold in the same month last year.

Honda – 11.39% Growth

Honda has recorded a positive growth of 11.39% in January 2021. However, exports declined by 30.13 percent. In the domestic market, Honda delivered 4,16,716 units as against 3,74,114 units sold in January 2020. Honda Activa is the major contributer for the brand, as it becomes the best-selling scooter in India.

Yamaha – 53.57% Growth

Yamaha Motor India records 53.57% growth in January 2021 sales. The company sold 55,151 units as compared to 35,913 units in January 2020.
