Hyundai Creta Records Highest Ever Sales Since 2015

Hyundai Motor India registered total sales of 59,913 units in September 2020. The company’s domestic sales stood at 50,313 units, which marked a growth of 23.60 per cent compared to the same period last year. Hyundai also exported 9,600 units from India in the last month. The new Hyundai Creta has been the top selling SUV for the company, followed by the Venue, Tucson and Kona EV. The carmaker managed to sell 12,325 units of the Creta, which is the highest ever monthly sales ever since its launch in 2015.

Compared to its arch rival – Kia Seltos, the new Creta is much ahead in terms of sales. The former recorded a total sales of 9,079 units in September, 2020. While Hyundai sold 11,756 units of the new Creta in August 2020, the Seltos clocked total sales of 10,655 units. The sibling rivalry is getting fiercer month by month. Last month, Hyundai sold 8,469 units of the Venue, 85 units of the Tucson and 29 units of the Kona electric SUV.

The new-generation Hyundai Creta shares its engine and gearbox options with the Kia Seltos. Its engine setup includes three BS6-compliant motors – a 115hp, 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and a 115hp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. The naturally-aspirated gasoline motor can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The turbo-petrol unit comes only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Despite sharing its powertrains with the Seltos, the new Creta offers higher ARAI mileage courtesy to its slightly lower kerb weight and taller gearing. The 1.5L petrol MT and CVT return claimed fuel economy of 16.8kmpl and 17.1kmpl respectively. The turbo-petrol DCT promises 16.8kmpl and the 1.5L diesel MT and AT deliver 21.4kmpl and 18.3kmpl respectively.
