Korean automaker, Hyundai is maintaining its lead in the fast growing SUV segment of India. The company’s latest entrant, the new-gen Hyundai Creta has been receiving phenomenal response from buyers, as the bookings have crossed 80,000 mark in less than 5 months. Not just Creta, Hyundai’s sub-4 meter SUV is also topping the sales chart in August 2020.
Hyundai had delivered 11,758 units of the new-gen Hyundai Creta SUV in August 2020, which makes it the top-selling SUV of India. The Hyundai Venue also retains the top-spot by beating the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon. The Korean company sold 8,267 units of the Venue in August 2020, which is more than 1K down in corresponding month last year. Hyundai had sold 9,342 Venue’s in August 2019.
Maruti Vitara Brezza remains at the second position with 6,903 units delivered in August 2020. Tata Motors delivered 5,179 units of the Nexon compact SUV last month, making it the third best-selling SUV in its category. Mahindra and Ford delivered 2,990 units of XUV300 and 2,757 units of the EcoSport respectively.
The new-gen Hyundai Creta is available with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 1.4L turbocharged petrol. The SUV is equipped with several segment-leading features and multiple engine-gearbox combinations. The company is currently gearing up for the launch of the new-gen i20 hatchback. It is likely to be launched during festive season, around October-November 2020.
