Over 9,000 Kia Sonet Sold In Just 12 Days Of its Launch

Kia Sonet subcompact SUV was launched in the third week of the last month. Within 12 days of its arrival, the model registered an impressive sells of 9,266 units, thus making the top-selling Kia car in September 2020. The South Korean carmaker recorded 147% year-on-year (YOY) growth with 18,676 units of total sales in the previous month.

The Sonet compact SUV comes in 17 variants and two formats – Tech Line and GT Line. While the Tech Line includes 6 trims (HTE, HTK, HTK ,HTX and HTX+), the GT Line has a single, fully-loaded GTX+ trim. The latter one carries some sporty design bits including red accents on the exterior and contrast red stitching on the interior.

The new subcompact SUV from Kia can be had with two petrol and one diesel engine. The diesel variants come with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged motor that’s good enough for 100bhp and 240Nm of torque. It has been paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. With a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, the same unit produces a peak power of 115hp and 250Nm. As mentioned above, there are two petrol engines – a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated and a 1.0-litre, turbo. The naturally aspirated unit makes a top power of 83hp and 115Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox only and is limited to the lower trim levels. The turbo-petrol motor has been tuned for generating a top power of 120hp and 175Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed iMT gearbox (a clutch-less manual) or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

Some of its key features include leatherette upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a  Bose audio system, Kia’s ‘UVO’ connected car tech, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting,  an air purifier with virus protection a sunroof, front parking sensors, cruise control and many more.
