Hyundai Creta and Maruti Vitara Brezza dominated the SUV sales chart for years. Now, both SUVs are facing tough competition from the Tata Nexon and witnessed drastic decline in the month sales. In May 2022, Hyundai Creta recorded total sales of 10,973 units as opposed to 12,651 units of April 2022. The Maruti Vitara Brezza, on the other hand, registered sales of 10,312 units against 11,764 units of April 2022.
Both models observed monthly sales dip of 1,678 units and 1,452 units respectively. Compared to the last year’s May sales figures, the Creta and Vitara Brezza registered sales growth of 46 percent and 289 percent respectively. In May 2021, Hyundai retailed 7,527 units of the Creta and Maruti Suzuki sold 2,648 units of the subcompact SUV.
Talking about Hyundai Creta, the compact SUV is ready receive a mid-life update in the second half of 2022. Most of the changes will be cosmetic including the new parametric grille with integrated LED DRLs, revised bumper with wider air-inlet, updated tailgate design and new LED taillamps. The SUV will have a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and updated Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech. No changes are likely to be made to its engine setup.
Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza will enter into its second-generation by the end of June 2022. Compared to the current model, the new one will be lighter, safer and more fuel efficient. The SUV will employ the updated 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine with the 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options.
The SUV will have several new features on-board including the new SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 360 degree camera, Heads-Up Display (HUD), a new instrument cluster and a flat bottom steering, connected car tech, electronic stability control and 6 airbags. The new 2022 Maruti Brezza could also be offered in new colour options.
