Car manufacturers in India have released the sales numbers for the month of May 2022. The sales figures reveal that SUVs are gaining more popularity among buyers, as the demand for hatchbacks and sedans are on decline. 2. Hyundai Creta – 10,973 Units

5. Mahindra Bolero – 8,767 Units
6. Hyundai Venue – 8,300 Units
7. Kia Sonet – 7,899 Units

– The Tata Nexon is the best-selling SUV in the country last month. Tata Motors sold 14,614 units of the sub-4 meter SUV in May 2022 as against 6,439 units in the same month last year. The SUV reported a year-on-year sales growth of 126.96%. Not just best-selling SUV, the Tata Nexon is now India’s second best-selling model in the list of top selling passenger vehicles.
– Hyundai Creta grabs the second position in the list of top 10 selling SUVs in May 2022. Hyundai sold 10,973 Creta’s last month as against 7,527 in May 2021, registering a YoY sales growth of 45.78%.
– Maruti Vitara Brezza is at third with 10,312 units sold in May 2022. The sub-4 meter SUV registers a YOY sales growth of 289.43%. The company will launch the new Brezza on June 30. It is expected that the new model will further improve the overall sales of Maruti Suzuki India.
– Tata Punch is the second Tata product in the list of top 10 selling SUVs in May 2022. Standing at 4th, the Punch reported total sales of 10,241 units last month.
– Mahindra’s hugely popular rugged SUV, the Bolero has registered a massive YoY sales growth of 149.27%. The company sold 8,767 units in May 2022 as against 3,517 units in the same month last year.
– The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet grab 6th and 7th positions respectively in the list of top 10 selling SUVs in May 2022. Hyundai sold 8,300 units of the Venue in May 2022 as against 4,840 units in the same month last year. On the other hand, Kia sold 7,899 units of the Sonet last month as against 6,627 units in May 2021.
– Kia’s first product in India, the Seltos is at 8th position with total sales of 5,953 units in May 2022. The SUV reported a YoY sales growth of 39%. Kia had sold 4,277 units of the Seltos in May 2021.
– Mahindra’s popular SUVs, the XUV700 and the XUV300 are at 9th and 10th position respectively. Mahindra sold 5,069 units of the XUV700 and 5,022 units of the XUV300 in May 2022.
