Hyundai Creta EV Under Development – Maruti YYB Rival

The South Korean automaker, Hyundai has planned for 6 new electric vehicles (EVs) for the Indian market by 2028. The company will invest Rs 4,000 crore to expand its EV product portfolio. The range will include BEV (battery electric vehicles) across different segments and body styles (SUV, sedan and CUV). Hyundai Motor India has already confirmed the Ioniq 5 electronic crossover launch that will take place at the 2023 Auto Expo. The updated Kona EV might also make its way sometime time year.

Hyundai’s first mass-market EV, that will be built on an existing ICE platform, will hit roads before the end of 2024. The carmaker revealed its upcoming affordable electric cars will deliver a range of 350km. According to a fresh media report, the all-electric Hyundai Creta EV is under development and might be unveiled in its production-ready avatar at the 2025 Auto Expo.

Hyundai Creta 2022 Rear Teased

Internally known as SU2i EV, the Hyundai Creta EV might enter into series production towards the end of 2024. Once launched, the new Hyundai electric SUV will be put up against Maruti Suzuki’s YY8 EV that will debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are also working on the electric SUVs that could be positioned against the Creta electric The report further states that the company aims to sell 20,000 – 25,000 units of the electric SUV on annual basis.

Prices of the Hyundai Creta EV are expected to be around Rs 15 lakh for the base model and Rs 30 lakh for the top-end variant. The carmaker’s Chennai-based facility might serve as production for the electric SUV. In order to expand manufacturing capacity of the plant (up to 8.5 lakh units), Hyundai made an investment of Rs 1,472 crore in the fiscal year 2022.
